Zongo the Monkey Pirate KIng

I can't claim ownership of this name or idea. Forced to watch the Disney Jr. television show Jake and the Neverland Pirates, I saw this little character named King Zongo. He was a monkey and a pirate.

When I heard him talk about how he wanted the island for himself, it reminded me of The Islands of Purple-Haunted Putrescence, especially since Zongo was wearing purple and he sounded like a character out of Lost. That's when I knew I had to do some kind of write-up on him. Incidentally, purple + Lost = the purple islands (more or less).

Maybe the monkey pirate king would make a good koshi? Maybe he's only half-monkey? Disguised, enchanted, or carrying a crystal that boosts his intelligence?

Zongo's strength isn't combat but cleverness (he's also captain of a pirate ship). He'll never stand and fight when there's a chance of death. Rather, Zongo will talk and steal and order his simian friends to do his dirty work. He is a king, after all.

Zongo

HD: 4 HP: 30 AC: 15 [4] Attack Bonus: +4 Damage: 1d4 (monkey-sized scimitar)

Special: when opponents roll a natural 1, they are considered to have just slipped on one of Zongo's old banana peels.

Maybe he was a normal monkey who stole something shiny, a phylactery containing the spirit of a deposed/murdered Koshi chief. Just a thought.

Cool idea, man!
