End Boss Battle Bonuses

This idea came to me just before arriving at Game Hole Con Saturday where I ran a couple games. The night before, I was watching the 1989 post-apocalypse movie Cyborg. An idea occurred...

Have a list of modifiers that would improve PC chances for victory at the session's end - during the big boss battle. The list would be handed out to players ahead of time and if they incorporated X, Y, and Z into their character's journey, they'd receive whatever bonuses they qualified for.

Why do this? Because it would be fun to watch the PCs dig deep into the vintage cliches of genre action movies in order to get an edge and possibly win the day. Using an incentive like this is key!

End Boss Battle Bonuses

  • +1d6 for trash talk.
  • +1d6 for releasing pent-up sexual frustration.
  • +1d6 for tragic backstory.
  • +1d6 for this being an old enemy or nemesis.
  • +1d6 for fighting shirtless at night in the rain.
  • +1d6 if you swore revenge prior to battle.
  • +1d6 for super cool and creative combat maneuver.
  • +1d6 if you took the time to train for this fight.
  • +1d6 if you say your catchphrase (must have established catchphrase).
  • +1d6 if you were knocked unconscious and/or almost killed earlier in the session.

___________

All these bonuses are one-time only and can only be cashed-in during the final conflict.

If you're not playing one of the many awesome VSd6 roleplaying games published by Kort'thalis Publishing or a similar d6 dicepool system, then chances are it's some d20 thing. No prob, just change the +1d6 to a +2 bonus.
